Hello, my name is Maggie May! If you wondering yes, I am named after that one Rod Stewart song. I am a recent graduate from Ringling College of Art and Design, where I earned my BFA in Computer Animation (May 2023). I am a 3D generalist specializing in Look Development and 3D Modeling. I'm proud to say I just completed my thesis animated short film, Bear Hugs (more info). It's a story that is extremely close to me as it is inspired by my own charity, Bear Hugs Inc. A Nonprofit that brings teddy bears to kids in the hospital during the holidays. When I am not creating, you can find me outside. I am very competitive when it comes to sports. Softball, flag football or skateboarding is my go to. Then there's my three furry brothers, Pip, Jake, and Maverick. They are my pups and they’re my WORLD! |
My Artist Statement
Growing up my family would have animated movies and shows constantly playing. I would sit, watch them, and try to recreate the characters that appeared on the screen. In grade school, I migrated more towards realism. I loved to make portraits of famous people, friends, family and pets. Then I started to get obsessed with Digital artwork. I started to get into film, digital paintings, and computer animation. I discovered how amazing computer animation is as a medium, and can be used as a creative tool to tell stories that film may not be capable of. I would watch films like Big Hero 6, Ratatouille, and Monster's Inc. and I'd connect with the characters that I wouldn't be able to in the real world. |
The more I create, I see the positive affect I can have on people. Just like I felt when I was younger; watching the newest animated movie come alive on my screen. My eyes would brighten while having a huge smile on my face. I hope to recreate that same feeling for generations to come.
